Rides
If you are in San Diego on business or vacation and you are looking for a guided bicycle ride because you prefer riding with a partner or someone who knows the area and culture you are in the right place. San Diego Coffee Rides is the only guided non e-bike service in San Diego. We specialize in coffee ride paced bicycle routes in North County San Diego with stops at the best cafes and bakeries.
Our target bicycle pace is in the mid teens maximum, after all this is a coffee ride. If you require a slower pace just let us know, we cater to your speed.
If you are looking for an A Group 20 mph+ average pace let us know, we can recommend a group ride where pros and Grand Tour winners ride. Yes depending on the time of year our local A rides contain current pros, local hot shots, and even a three week grand tour winner.
Bike rental, if required, and food are not included, however, we can help you arrange a decent rental. We recommend you bring at least your pedals, shoes, and your kit. Many places have helmets, but if you can bring yours, it is recommended.
Based on your bicycle route we can meet in various locations, but if you need transportation, that can also be arranged. If renting a bike, we ask that you have already picked it up and made any needed adjustments unless otherwise instructed before we meet.
Bespoke Routes
All of our cycling routes are custom designed to your riding ability and wishes. We will send you a brief questionnaire and based on your answers and preferences we can create a customized bike ride tailored to your wishes.
If espresso and pastries aren’t your thing, don’t worry. North county has options for bagels, pizza, tacos and burritos, and burgers. Not interested in cafes or food, that’s fine as well. All bicycle routes are made specifically for your interests.
Where We Ride
Our La Jolla bicycle routes include the beautiful La Jolla Cove, roads with amazing ocean views, potential shopping, and of course delicious pastries and coffee. If you climb short punchy climbs we can climb to the top of La Jolla passing incredible houses and a 360 degree view of the city.
Just north are the beaches of Del Mar. Del Mar cycling routes have the options for climbs or coastal roads with $50 million dollar compounds. If you fancy a dedicated bike path, we have a great option to ride on a protected bike path. Inland from the coast you will find Rancho Santa Fe. Home of huge gated communities, horses, and the most popular bicycling roads around. Ride past generational wealth and celebrity enclaves on lightly traveled roads.
Solana Beach, Cardiff, and Encinitas is where you can experience the real surf culture while riding your bike on the 101. We can stop on the bluffs overlooking the most popular surf breaks in north county for photo opportunities and unreal ocean views.
Carlsbad and Oceanside are the northernmost cities in coastal San Diego. From the Carlsbad Village and Barrio we can ride to Oceanside and pass the house made famous in Top Gun taking in a view from the Oceanside pier. There is also an option for another protected bike path.
Inland cities such as San Marcos, Escondido, Rancho Bernardo, and 4S Ranch also have plenty of bicycle options. With more climbing options, bike paths, and of course hidden cafes, donut shops, and bakeries these cities are great to explore when you want to get away from the coast.
